A Walk Down Memory Lane :: Bermuda 2012

As I mentioned yesterday, this time last year, New York was looking around at the devastation from Hurricane Sandy. And we were escaping to Bermuda for the wedding of Tim & Lora Konrad. We felt REALLY guilty. For about a minute.

Looking back through these photos provides an instant mini vacation. I had to share more from that trip!!

Pink beaches, billowy clouds & clear ocean water. Yes. I'll take it. Even though it was a little chilly. For me. Most of the New Yorkers were not only in the swim suits, but swimming. Me? I wish my blood was thick enough…I did happily catch up on some Vitamin D in my beach chair, just with most of my clothing on.

Most everyone stayed at The Coral Beach Club. It is beautiful & frozen in time. We LOVED it!! It has been meticulously maintained. This is an old-school place to stay with excellent service, beautiful grounds & the sweetest bar (above) you've ever had happy hour in.

Friday night, the families welcomed everyone with a cocktail cruise on Hamilton Bay and dinner at The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club

The ceremony on Saturday was at The Unfinished Church in St. George's. It was amazeballs!! Started in 1874, it was never finished due to a variety of reasons & is now, along with the town of St. George's, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The reception went down back at The Coral Beach Club. There were drinks, there was dancing…there was also a bonfire on the beach & wish lanterns we all set off into the night. Again…amazeballs…I took those 2 pictures above with the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. Pretty impressed with myself. Thank you bonfire for amazing back light!

I don't usually talk about fashion here, but I have to mention my fabulous accessories from Love of Pretty. Sarah McBriar is the proprietor & you may remember her & her lovely jewelry from the Dekalb Market. Sarah & I made a little exchange…my design labor for some jewelry. I have worn these earrings (similar here) and the Gold Pearl Anchor Bracelet about a million times since then. They are 2 of my favorites.

Again, congrats Tim & Lora on year 1 of marriage. Best wishes for many many more!

Recharging...

Hi Sports Fans!

It is time for my summer vacation. Usually, I take the full month of August off. Just from the blog. And this year will not be an exception.

Usually about this time of the year, I have been blessed with some wedding orders & pretty much ignored my retail business. If I don't schedule this time away from the blog, I will never get back to it. For the next month, I'll be working on new designs, updating old ones, preparing for the fall & holiday seasons. And who knows what else.

I'll also be recharging my batteries. My creative batteries that is. Time away from this blog gives me ideas for posts, products & projects I want to take on. It is SO. IMPORTANT to have this time. I ALMOST didn't take it this year. For the first time since I started this blog, I'm actually a little afraid of the radio silence. I could just write a bunch of posts & schedule them, which would keep my traffic up. But, I have to be honest. I need a break. Even though the industry advice is to have 2 weeks of posts in your back pocket, by this time of the year, my pockets are empty. And Mama needs a break.

So! I'll see you back here, starting with a Tuesday Talk on September 3rd. Anyone else getting away before "back to school?" Bonne vacances!

PS Don't forget you can check in on me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest

Words to live by...

Thanks Lily, for lending some perspective to my Wednesday morning. Mr. B & I are headed to Bermuda tomorrow for a wedding. Clients-turned-friends of ours are getting married on Saturday at the Unfinished Church on St. George.

I have been STRESSED getting ready for this trip - my dog is a mess, our dog sitter situation is less than optimal, the weather looks bad for our flight...I have tons of product to make for my holiday shows coming up...

Ok, breathing...deep breaths...

Perspective: I'm going to Bermuda tomorrow...Weeeeeee!!

Puerto Rico!

 {taken with the Hipstimatic app on my iPhone. Love!}

Had a great time on vacation last week. Soooooo sorry about the HORRIBLE typo in my blog post before I left. Fixed it. Clearly I needed a few days sitting on the beach.

Feeling recharged & looking forward to getting back to work! If you'd like to see pictures from the trip, I posted some here.

Cue the steel drums...

As most of you are reading this I will be in 1 of 2 places.

1. On a plane to Puerto Rico
2. Already sitting on the beach in Puerto Rico

Just depends on when you got up this morning. Mr. B's dad & step-mom have graciously invited us to 7 days of fun & sun in the condo they have for the month in Ricon, a beach town on the West coast of PR. I'm pretty much packed. Found a few things on Etsy I wish were in my suitcase...

From top right, clockwise: Sailor Tote Bag - why don't I already own this?!, Gemstone and Starfish Necklace - simple, goes with everything, Mermaid bottle opener - will need one for sure, Hemp Linen Beach Dress - one of a few dresses from this shop that I wish were in my suitcase.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! I'll see you back here in 7 days! xo!

PS On a business note, I'll have limited access to email so just be patient. Any & all orders placed during the next week will be shipped on Monday the 30th.

Update: Awful typo in the title. Yikes! Great trip tho :)

What I did on my summer vacation

(Mr. B & me with the Queen Mary, Long Beach, CA)

Hi guys! Remember me? Your fearless blog writer??

Whatcha been up to? I've been on vacation - well, kinda. There has been work with the play but there has been LOTS of play...

(Dodger's game in LA with my Uncle Jim)

(The beach in Dana Point, CA after Mr B's cousin's wedding. Beautiful!!)

(The golf course, Bellport, NY, where we rent in the summer)

(The Great South Bay from Bellport, spent A LOT of time on the bay this year in our new boat, The Beach Buggy)

In between fun on the bay & our trip to California, I have been hard at work on custom wedding pieces. Really excited to share them as they are all really different & were fun to work on - like these menus for one of my clients...hand stamped doilies!

Stay tuned for more!

I hope you all had a wonderful summer!! Just Labor Day weekend left to go really, so get out there & enjoy it!!
