New Year, Old Work

{Fred and Janie Tied the Knot - October 9, 2010 - the entire suite}

In October last year I had the pleasure of designing the wedding pieces for my father's wedding. They wanted casual, fun & sophisticated invites, representing the coming together of the things they love - riding horses & playing golf. It set up a great atmosphere for a casual, family-focused beach wedding on Bald Head Island on the North Carolina Coast.

It was so much fun to design a big suite like this! While they needed a few of the traditional things, they also wanted to have fun with it. Janie had a logo from some old stationery that she liked which perfectly combined their golf & horse passions. The logo really is a nice reflection of them as a couple.

So, we did a BIG invitation card - 6 x 9 inches! - double mounted, included an accommodation card that laid out travel, rental, ferry & area information for Bald Head Island. Plus! We included an oyster roast invitation for guests and an R. S.V. P. card that requested everyone's favorite songs to be played at the reception. All of it was wrapped up with a green belly band & seal displaying the couple's philosophy - Play Golf, Ride Horses, Laugh Longer.

Instead of traditional cake, Dad & Janie had ice cream sandwiches from Nye's in Wilmington. I don't remember the flavors we had...mint chip I think & something else...doesn't matter. You couldn't eat just one. They were the best ice cream sandwiches ever.

By the time we got finished with all the pieces we created save-the-dates, the invitation suite, ceremony programs, wrappers for the ice cream sandwiches, thank you notes, a custom notepad for the bride & groom and these...the place cards.

All these beautiful photos are courtesy of Theo Milo Photography, their photographer. He was a class act & loads of fun. Janie got him out on the dance floor!

Dad & Janie, thank you so much for trusting me with your vision. Congrats!!

More projects to share later!
