Cue the steel drums...

As most of you are reading this I will be in 1 of 2 places.

1. On a plane to Puerto Rico
2. Already sitting on the beach in Puerto Rico

Just depends on when you got up this morning. Mr. B's dad & step-mom have graciously invited us to 7 days of fun & sun in the condo they have for the month in Ricon, a beach town on the West coast of PR. I'm pretty much packed. Found a few things on Etsy I wish were in my suitcase...

From top right, clockwise: Sailor Tote Bag - why don't I already own this?!, Gemstone and Starfish Necklace - simple, goes with everything, Mermaid bottle opener - will need one for sure, Hemp Linen Beach Dress - one of a few dresses from this shop that I wish were in my suitcase.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! I'll see you back here in 7 days! xo!

PS On a business note, I'll have limited access to email so just be patient. Any & all orders placed during the next week will be shipped on Monday the 30th.

Update: Awful typo in the title. Yikes! Great trip tho :)

Lacy Wedding Menus

 {Menu doilies from K. Batty Design & Stationery, via Juan MacLean photography}

Starting mid-summer I have been filling lots of custom orders, mostly of the wedding variety - like these super cool menus for my client Rachel & her fiance...now husband...Nate. Rachel knew exactly what she wanted. Doilies! We worked together to design a rubber stamp of her menu, chose a great green ink pad to compliment her wedding palette & I got to work stamping.

These photos are from her uber-cool photographer Juan MacLean. Check out the rest of their beautiful wedding pictures on his blog here.

This project was so much fun & Rachel already gave me the green light to sell these on my Etsy shop. Look for the listing coming soon. On the heels of this project came several other custom orders that I'll be sharing over the next few weeks. I SO appreciate the couples who have trusted me to design these pieces with them. Thanks, you guys!

Cards of the Week :: Brrrrr...

So far, in New York, this year, we've had it easy, winter-wise. Especially when you take last year's snow fall into account...this has been a breeze.

Not. Any. More. According to weather.com, it is currently 30 degrees, but it feels like 14. Oh, and windy. I'll say. It sounds like I live in a gorge the way the wind is howling in our back yard.

Time for some wintery stationery to fit the forecast!

I'm glad these designs all come in one package because I honestly couldn't pick just one. The snow flakes are dainty. The kid on the sled is great. The fleur de lis is a classic symbol for any season, but feels wintery in this color scheme. And the deer...I want it blown up in a poster on my wall. Or on a pillow! It's cool. Love it. High 5 to Angela Flores of Paisley Prints Etc. for a great card set. If you like these, you will adore her shop.

Recycling Your Holiday Cards for a Good Cause

Each year, as the holidays come & go, we amass a pile of greetings sent by our friends & family. Each year I try to find a different way to display them. See picture above for this year's placement under Walter, our Canada goose. Since we were away for Christmas we didn't actually get most of them until New Year's when we arrived home, so they are still up as we are still enjoying them.

St. Jude's Ranch for Children...

The photo cards I sometimes save, sometimes just throw in the recycle bin, but the all paper cards will get a new life this year as donations to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, a safe haven for neglected & abused children. My good friend Sara from S2 Stationery & Design posted about this donation program over on the NewNew blog last week. They take cards of all types and reuse the front to resell in a fundraising effort for their program. Learn more about the donation program & where to send your cards for donating here. Note: they take cards for all occasions but not all brands of greeting cards due to copyright laws.

Learn more about St. Jude's Ranch for Children here. If you haven't cleaned up your holiday card collection or if you have other cards to recycle, I hope you'll consider sending them to St. Jude's Ranch. It is the best kind of recycling you can do!
